Essex Removals From Essex · to Europe

Essex → España

Hola España. Goodbye stress.

Whitewashed walls, an orange tree heavy with fruit, the slow blue arc of an Andalusian afternoon.

A corridor we run weekly

Costas, capitals, and the inland villages.

Spain is the network's busiest move, and the most cheerfully chaotic. Costas del Sol and Blanca, the Balearics, the inland villages of Andalucía — every region has its own logistics rhythm and its own dance with the local NIE office.

The route runs through the Channel and down the Atlantic via Bordeaux, or down the eastern French corridor through Lyon if your destination is the Mediterranean coast. Both routes are well-trodden. The padrón and the NIE are the parts that catch newcomers; we time the move so neither becomes a problem.

What's included

Door to door, end to end.

  • Door-to-door pickup

Surveyor at your Essex address; same crew loads in Essex and hands off to the destination team at the Spanish frontier.

  • Spanish-speaking coordinator

A native-Spanish-speaking coordinator handles padrón timing, comunidad de propietarios sign-offs, and Costa-side delivery scheduling.

  • Customs filing

EORI and Spanish aduanas paperwork end-to-end. Andalusian and Catalonian entry points each have quirks — our partners know them.

  • Goods-in-transit cover

All-risks cover from your Essex front door to your Spanish keys.

  • Costa-route expertise

The eastern route via Lyon → Barcelona → Valencia → Málaga is what we run weekly. Coastal salt-air packing on request.

  • Custom packing

Tile-floor protection at delivery; antique-grade wrapping for solid-wood Spanish furniture; climate cover for any move heading inland into hot dry storage.

What you'll need

NIE, padrón, and the paper trail.

Spain is paperwork-led. Below is what you'll meet — what we file is in the previous section.

NIE · Número de Identidad de Extranjero
Foreigner ID number — required for almost every official transaction in Spain (bank account, property, utility contract). Apply at the Spanish consulate in London before you fly, or in-country at the Oficina de Extranjería.
Padrón · Empadronamiento certificate
Local town hall registration — required for healthcare, schools, and many utility contracts. Apply at your destination ayuntamiento within thirty days of moving in. We time delivery to align.
EORI number · Economic Operator Registration
UK-side requirement for goods crossing into the EU. Free to obtain; we handle the application.
ToR1 declaration · Transfer of Residence
Filed by us with HMRC — allows duty-free movement of household goods owned more than six months.
Bilingual inventory · Customs inventory
Spanish aduanas accept English inventories at major entry points but a bilingual version smooths regional crossings.

Where we go

5 regions, one corridor.

Essex DEPARTURE Spain ARRIVAL
  • Costa del Sol

Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Fuengirola. Gated developments; comunidad lift bookings; weekday-only deliveries on most urbanizaciones.

  • Costa Blanca

Alicante, Benidorm, Jávea, Moraira. Apartment blocks with strict moving-day windows; the destination team books the calle and the lift.

  • Andalucía interior

Ronda, Córdoba, Granada — pueblo blanco villages. Narrow lanes; staging from the village outskirts with the smaller crew vehicle.

  • Madrid & Barcelona

Centro and Eixample apartments. Permit-restricted zones; the destination team handles the parking-permit chain with the city council.

  • Balearics

Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza. Ferry routing from Barcelona or Valencia; customs already cleared on the peninsula — no second clearance.

How quotes work

A single fixed figure.

Every Spain quote is a single fixed figure in writing — transit, customs, insurance, door-to-door. The Costa del Sol is our weekly run; inland Andalucía adds a final-mile transfer; the Balearics add a ferry leg. The Essex surveyor walks the property and the destination access details before any figures are written down.

"I'd been promising myself Spain for fifteen years. The move itself was the part I was dreading and it turned out to be the easiest part. Essex Removals walked through my Southend bungalow on a Wednesday, packed on a Tuesday, and handed me my keys in Estepona to the same boxes in the same order. The Spanish coordinator briefed the comunidad president for me. I had an orange tree two weeks later."
